Summary: Vega lives on the magical Giraffe Island with her father and Grandad Hector. Vega sees things no one else can, and extraordinary animals keep her company. Rabbits with four ears, horses as small as cats, beetles as big as guinea pigs, even frudbimbles and spoonlurks from her grandfather's garden. Vega has never met her mother, and when she asks Dad and Hector, they reply in riddles. So Vega and her friend Nelson set off to find their own answers. Clues from Hector's garden and a pen pal's letters lead them across the sea. First stop, the circus.
