The book includes the earliest accounts of the first Europeans to visit Milford Sound, the sealers, the Acheron surveyors and the geologists Sir James Hector and Robert Paulin. It also includes the men who constructed the Milford Road and their various camps, the pioneer trekkers and the early huts on the Milford Track and the early township of Te Anau and the early steamers on Lake Te Anau.
