197 p Summary: At an end of a summer party, Melinda Sordino was raped by a senior student and now carries this terrible secret alone. Although Melinda called the police after the event, she left the party before they arrived and now her friends think she called the police to break up the party and won't have anything to do with her. Melinda tells her story, describing how hard it was for her to start high school under this cloud, and how it has affected her friendships, her school work and her relations with her parents as well. But the worst part is trying to live with her terrible secret. Includes notes from author and discussion questions Originally published: Farrar, Strous Giroux, 1999Librarian's Miscellania
