line drawings by Jo Ogier This is a portrait of a highly intelligent and entertaining bird. Hoki was one of a handful of kakapo chicks born on Codfish Island in the autumn of 1992. The first kakapo to be raised in captivity, she has been living on Maud Island in the Marlborough Soundss since she was three months old. On Christmas day 1996 she was released into the wild.Additional Notes
